Brethren :
Wee Come here in the house of Corlaer to acquaint you
that the Onoydes and Onondages as also the Mahikanders
have been in our land, and according to our Custome, bemoaned
the death of some of our people, the Mahikanders have alsoe
renewed the ffreindship, Wee understand there hath beene

come to lament, the same doe give a Belt nineteen Deep:
2: Doe hope it may be repaired and doe sweep away the
Rubbish or Trash doe give a Belt of Twelve deep:
3: Are hardly sorry for said loss, Doe wype away the
Teares. counte the loss as if happned to themselves, doe
give a Belt of Twelve Deep.
4: Wee are in a fast covenant one with another, Lett the
same be kept fast and inviolable, and who ever breaks the
Covenant, wee shall keepe the same and hold fast, and shall
not pull out our hand Lett it be kept cleare and not rust, If
any of our Indians wrong one another by beating Yea killing
one another, the same is by us buried in oblivion, but the
Brethren doe not soe But are soon angry, doe give a Belt of
Z of 14 deep.
