Applicacons ter the Governr of New Yorke

New Yorke June the 12th Ano 1682.
Honoured Sr
Those severall applicacons made yesterday wee have caused
to be drawne up into these heads and humbly desire that noe
negative determinacon may be made to any Article without
giveing us a hearing to Reply to such matters as shall be
objected thereto:
1. That you please to grant us yor Councill and Assistance
in demanding and procureing satisfaccon for those murders
and Robberys committed vpon the Inhabitants last fall by the
Northern nacons of Indians:
2. That you please after a faire Compliance therein by
those nations whose People were guilty of the fact to putt us
into the best Rules of ratifieing and Confirmeing the peace
last made (and in such manner as may best secure us from
such violations as have beene to lately committed on their part
in order whereto wee have considered of some expedients wch
wee offer for yor Honors Approbacon.
1st That you please by yor Selfe or some person commis-
sionated p you to declare to those severall Northerne Nations
of Indians, in league and amity with his Majesty, in his
Royall Highness the Dukes Governmt that the Inhabitants of
Maryland and Virginia are alike Subjects to the King of
England as yor selves of New Yorke.

2dly That in haveing made a peace with the subjects of the
King of England at New York they must understand it
includes all the Kings subjects in Maryland and Virginia.
3: That if they committ any murders or Robberys upon the
persons or estates of the Inhabitants of Maryland and Vir-
ginia, they must not expect to hold any longer the trade att
Albany or Continue in the Amity or friendship of the Inhabi-
tants of this Governmt
4: And that this may make the Deeper impressions upon
them and Consequently take the better Effect for the prser-
vacon of his Majestys Subjects in all these Governmts that
you please at the next ratificacon of your owne peace (which
wee understand is done yearly to add an Article for that
purpose for which Noble and Christian-like Service no doubt
but your Honr will have his gratious Matys Royall favour and
thanks.
I: In order to the effecting whereof, and makeing peace for
our severall neighbouring and freind Indians (without which
wee cannot expect to be free from Robberys and Spoiles
when their Northerne Troopes come downe vpon them, Wee
desire permission to treate with those severall Nations at
Albany.
