Read then the Comission and Instructions to Coll Henry
Coursey and Coll Philemon Lloyd prepared for tryall of the
Eastern Shore Indian according to an order of this board the
13th instant (viz)

Comrs to Coll. Coursey & Coll Lloyd for tryall of an
Eastern Shore Indian.
Maryld ss:
Charles Absolute Lord and Propry of the Provinces of Maryld
and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c.
To our trusty and well beloved Coll Henry Coursey and
Coll Philemon Lloyd of Talbot County in our sd Province of
Maryland Greeteing. Wee have Assigned constituted and
appointed, as by these presents wee doe Especially Assigne
constitute and appoint you the sd Coll Henry Coursey and
Coll Philemon Lloyd, our Justices and Commission" for the
tryall of Poh poh Caquis an Indian on the Eastern Shore Sub-
ject to Ahatsawab king of Asouthteague lately committed
and taken into custody for breach of the peace in attempting
the murder of William Troth one of the Inhabitants of the
said County wherefore you are at some convenient tyme and
in some certain place to be by you appointed in the said
County and soe soone as may be upon Receipt hereof to hold
a Court and the same duely to examine and enquire into, and
to proceed therein according to Justice, and your owne dis-

cretion as the meritts of the cause shall direct you, pursuant
to such Instructions as wee have by and with the advice of
our Councill prepared and herewith sent you. Giving unto
you full power and Authority to call before you and examine
upon Oath such witnesses as you shall think fitt or cann be
informed cann give any light or Evidence therein for your
