to me some few hours after I writt
that Lettr & satisfyed me that the dif-
ficulty of raiseing men that ill
weather was all that hindred
his appeareing sooner.
My Lord I have by him sent a bundle of Deere skins
left here by Ababco as a prsent to yr Lsp:

His Lspp communicates to this board that he had in the
Intervalls of Councill by Letter to Coll Lloyd sufficiently
Empowered him to Act in this affaire according to his discre-
tion which is approoved on by this board.
Resolved that a Comission be directed to Coll Henry Cour-
sey & Coll Philemon Lloyd for the tryall of the Indian
prisoner leaving it to them by way of Instruction whither to
punish the said Indian themselves, or deliver him up to the
Indians to be punished in publick view both of English and
Indians wch last in the Opinion of this board is the most con-
venient way
Ordered that the Assembly be next conveened at the
City of St Maries and that Proclamation issue accordingly
for the same to meete there at tyme already appointed.

Present

To the Rt honble the Lord Propry of Maryland &c:
The humble Petition of John King of Calvert County
Most humbly sheweth
That whereas at a Provinciall Court held at the Ridge in
the moneth of Novemb. 1683: one Gerard Slye sued your
petr in a plea of Debts upon an Act of Assembly of this Pro-
vince for Entertayneing a Runnaway Servant of the sd Slyes
by the Space of one and Twenty dayes, and did then by the
judgemt of the said Court recover against your petitioner
Tenn Thousand ffive hundred pounds of Tobacco, one half to
your Lspp; and the other half to the sd Gerard Slye; although
in truth your Petr did not soe long entertaine the. said Ser-
vant, but soe soone as it came to your Petrs knowledge that the
said Servant was the sd Slyes, your Petr did acquaint Thomas
