To the R^t hon^ble Charles absolute Lord and Prop^ry of the
Provinces of Mary^ld & Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c^a
The humble Petition of Coll W^m Burges
Sheweth
That whereas one Robert ffrancklyn now deed: was in his
life tyme constituted and appointed by your L^dsp high Sheriff
of Anne Arrund^ll County; for the due Execution of whose
Office, your Pet^r became bound with the said ffrancklyn
to y^r L^dspp in the penalty of a very greate summe of
Tobacco, And whereas the said ffrancklyn as high Sheriff
aforesaid, was chargeable with the Rents leavyes and
other publick Dutyes payable as well to y^r L^dsp as to sev-
erall of your L^dspp good people of this Province for the collect-
ing of which the said Sheriff by the good Lawes of this Prov-
ince had power to leavy the same by way of Execution. But
