ordeined, and by these presents doe constitute appoint and
ordeine them the s^d Nicholas Sewall and John Darnall to be
Our Principall Secretaries of our said Province of Maryland,
and to have all such priviledges and benefitts as belongeth to
our Principall Secretaries there. And wee doe by these
presents appoint constitute and ordeine the said Nicholas
Sewall and John Darnall to be our Principall Officers and
Keepers of the Acts of us and proceedings of us and our
Lievetenant and Councill there for the tyme being of and for
the Entring and Recording of all grants by us or our heyres
to be made of any lands or Offices within the said Province of
Maryland. To have and to hold execute and enjoy the said
Office of Principall Secretaries together with the priviledges
and benefitts aforesaid to them the said Nicholas Sewall and
John Darnall untill Wee or our heyres shall signifye our or
their pleasure to the contrary and noe longer. Given under
our hand and greate Seale of this our Province this ffifth day
of ffeb^ry in the Eighth yeare of our Dominion Annoq Dmi.
1682:

on the back of w^ch foregoeing Commission were written
these following endorsem^ts viz :

Wee doe hereby Authorise and Impower and require you
Coll Henry Darnall and Coll W^m Digges two of our Councill
to administer his Oath of Secretary or Secretaryes in our said
Province to them the within named Nicholas Sewall and John
Darnall. Given under our hand the day of the Date within
