for them till such tyme as they shall be able to reimburse us

againe being now miserably poore & low. But in case noe
tearmes will prevaile for the Pascattoways you are then to
Conclude for those other Indians on the Eastern Shore, being
willing to preserve to our selves as many ffriends as we cann.
16thly In case you receive any Encouragemt from the ready
Complyance of that Governmt you may then desire and with
some urgency press them to make known to all the Northern
Indians in league with them that as well the Inhabitants of
Maryland and Virginia as those of New Yorke and Albany
are alike Subjects to the king of England with whom those
Indians have entred into Articles of peace and Amity, that if
they breake peace with us they must not expect to hold peace
with those other his Majties Subjects of New Yorke, and that
if they kill or robb any the Inhabitants of Virginia or Mary-
land they must certainly expect not onely to be Denyed their
accustomed trade with New Yorke, but also in all other
respects be held and reputed as utter Enemies to that Gov-
ernmt Which if possibly to be effected, you are then further to
press that Governmt that at the next ratification of their peace,
a provision be by them made by an Article for that purpose
for security of all his Majties Subjects in generall.
17thly Lastly since your negotiation lyes in a place soe
remote to which noe Post cann goe and the time of treaty
(which is but once in the yeare) may be otherwise lost, In
case any thing offer or may happen in your treaty at New
Yorke or with the Northern Nations aforesaid, not provided
for in these Instructions you must use your best discretion in
the managemt of thinges and oportunitys to the obteineing &
Establishing a firmer peace then the last made at ffort Albany
by Coll Coursey as well for our selves and the Inhabitants of
Virginia as for the Pascattoway Indians, and the rest of our
ffriend Indians on both sides the Bay, if it be any way possible
to Include them; And you are likewise to make use of all or
any these Instructions as you in your discretion shall see fitt.

in the Seaventh yeare of our Dominion &c. Annoq Dmi.
