At a Councell held at Mattapenye Thursday July the 6th
1676. Present
Jesse Wharton Esqr Deputy Lt & Deputy Govr
Philip Calvert Esqr Chancellour

Ordered that Gerard Browne and Docter Maddox be satis-
fied Out of the publique for pasture of Capt Allen his troop
of horses so long as they shall be imployed about the safety
of the King of Mattawoman
Ordered that the twenty horse men to be appointed by
Capt Allen to assist the King of Mattawoman receive their
orders from time to time from Capt Aspinall to be sent the
said Aspinall from the Deputy Govrnor and Councell and
by the said Aspinall to be delivered to the Officer that
comands the said horse. And that the said Aspinall buy a
small boate or Cannough to passe the Creeke to the Indian
Towne upon all Occasions for which he is to be allowed out of
the publique.
Capt Allen desireing to know how he should behave him-
selfe in case he should meet the Seneca or any other Enemy
Indians (who as it is Supposed comes to warr with Our ffreind
Indians) It is resolved that he first attempt and endeavour to
make peace between them by all meanes possible, But if it
cannot be done, Then according to the agreement that wee
have made with Our Own Indians, he is then to give notice
to the Deputy Governor, and in case Our ffreind Indians
will send Out a Sufficient number able to engage the Enemy
to joyne with him against the Seneca or any other Enemy
that then he assist them.

Att a Councell held at Mattapenye ffriday the seventh day
of July 1676 present ut supra.
Ordered that immediately upon sight hereof All military
Officers muster their men under their Comand and appoint
every man to be in a readynesse upon all occasions as the
Deputy Governour and Councell shall thinke fitt, and that
they be provided each man with ten pounds of biskett and
beefe or bacon proportionable, One pound of powder and
three pounds of Shott. And that the Captaines, Leivtenants
Ensignes & Sergeants within six dayes after goe to each
