92 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1675-1 676.
Lib. R. R. Ordered also that Capt John Allen doe continue to range
above Pascattaway and Over towards Petuxent with thirty
horse till ordered to the Contrary.
The Councell likewise tooke into consideration made by
Collonel Nicholas Spencer viz. 12 matchcoats to the Pascato-
way Indians, and ordered that those persons who shall carry
the Pamunkye prisonner Over to the said Spencer shall desire
him to give halfe the said matchcoates to the King of Matta-
woman as a reward of his Service in takeing the said prisonner.
Ordered that Mr Benjn Rozer and Major Wm Boreman
receive the foure Indian prisoners from Capt Leivt Barton
and convey them Safely Over to Collonel Nicholas Spencer
and in his absence to Leivt Collonel John Washington or
Major Isaac Alderton, and to bring backe the Choptico, You-
comaco and Pascattaway Indians, and that they doe presse
boates or any thing else needfull for the Service.
And Major Boreman is to lett the Choptico and Pascatta-
way Indians Know that they are sent Over into Virginia only
to tell them the newes and so to come backe againe to live
with their ffreinds. And to that end Mr Benja Rozer is not to
permitt the Choptico and Pascattaway prisoners to goe on
Shoare in Virginia, till Coll Nicholas Spencer Leivt Coll John
Washington, and Major Isaac Alderton or one of them have
given him their paroll that they will permitt him to bring the
said Indians backe into Maryland againe After which the said
Rozer is to deliver the Choptico Indians to the King of
Choptico with a strict comand not to receive any more Indians
from Virginia and to deliver the Pascattoway Indian to Major
Boreman to be delivered to the Emperour with like charge.
John Hall of Calvert County haveing presented his accompt
against estate of George Beckwith deceased
It is the Opinion of the Councell that it is reasonable that
the same be allowed and paid by the administrator when
appointed and that the said John Hall take the same care of
the estate of the said Beckwith as formerly untill the County
Court of Calvert County otherwise Order and that the said
John Hall give notice hereof unto the Comissioners of the
said County at a Court to be holden for the said County on
tuesday next.
p. 74 Then was his Lordshipps Comission to his Sonn Cecill his
Lopps Leivtenant Generall and Cheife Governour and Jesse
Wharton Esqr Deputy Leivetenant and Deputy Governour
under the said Cecill (dureing the absence of his Lopp Out of
this province read and the Oath of Deputy Leivtenant and
Deputy Governour as aforesaid was by his Lopp administred
unto the said Jesse Wharton
