Lib. R. any further in this my Letter because the Depositions of the
English and the Examinations of the English which I have
now transmitted to you will make every thing apparent to
your Lspp as it is; but One thing more I must acquaint your
Lspp withall why Major Courseys Affidavit is not taken wch
your Lspp: may esteeme most materiall of all, he informing
that Tequassino should say at Coll Lloyds that he had some
twenty Indians gone out and that he wish'd there might be'
noe mischiefe done for he knew not upon what designe they
went, but it seemes he had that news from Capt Hemsley, and
Capt Hemsley from some of Coll Lloyds family, but Coll Lloyd
affirms that Tequassino spoke noe such word soe that his
Examination signifies nothing. My Lord I have made as
strict a Scrutiny into this concerne as possibly I could, and if
I have performed my Duty in it 1 shall esteeme my self happy
and ever be ambitious of your Ldspps Employes who am
Your Lspps most ready and most faithfull Servtt
thus Superscribed viz These Vincent Lowe
To the Rt honble the Lord Propry
haste haste post haste for the Countreys Service.
p. 229 August the first 1681:
Talbott ss:
The Deposition of Peter Dodd and John Robson taken at
the house of Coll Philemon Lloyd
Peter Dodd aged about 40 yeares and John Robson aged
about thirty yeares sworne and examined say that about the
tenth Day of June they did see about tenn or twelve (as they
judge) to be Indians in a Canooe passing towards Choptank
Island, these Deponents being in a Canooe likewise, and
these Deponents did hayle the Indians Canooe, intending to
know what they were, and they answered not but did there-
upon turne their Canooe a contrary way towards, Cookes
Poynt and soe the Depts could not speake with them, but they
these Deponts did see them afterwards tend their course
towards Choptank Island, And further your Deponents say
not
Sworne before us the Day and yeare above written

Phi Lloyd

Peter Hadaway aged 29 years or thereabouts sworne and
examined on August the 6th 1681:
Sayth
That about the 12th of June last 16 Indians came downe
Choptank River, and came to the Deponents house, and he
enquired of them whence they came and where they were
