404 Proceedings of the Council of Maryland, 1678-1681.
Lib. R. their Leader if Capt" Brandt would not, and that they had
appointed this Deponent their Ltevetenant, and that if the
said Brandt did not comply they would unhorse & disarme
him, and further saith he was told that George Godfrey had
sent to Ninion Beale to meete him at Pascattoway with what
force he could raise and to the best of his knowledge, he was
told this by John Wood, and further Saith not
Sworne before me
Ignatius Causin

Ordered that George Godfrey of Charles County be dis-
missed of his Office of Justice of the peace in the said County
as also of Lievetent to Captn Randolph Brandt and that Mr
John Redich of the same County succeed him in his Office of
Lievetenant, And also that the said Godfrey be committed
into close custody under the charge of Thomas Wynne his
keeper according to the following precept viz

Maryland ss:
You are hereby willed and Required as also strictly charged
and commanded to Receive and take into your Custody the
body of George Godfrey of Charles County when he shall be
delivered unto you by Major William Boareman high Sheriffe
of your County, and him safely keepe untill he shall be from
thence discharged by order from his Lspp & Councill or other
due course of Law, ffor which this shall be your warrant.
Dated the Eighth Day of August in the sixth yeare of the
Dominion of the Rt honble Charles &c Annoq Domini 1681:
To Thomas Wynne of Signed p ordr
St Maries County gentl p J Llewellin Cl Consil
These

William Boyden of Charles County in obedience to the
order of this board Enters into Bond of One hundred pounds
sterl paya to the Rt honble the Lord Propry his heyres and Suc-
cessors, to make his appeareance at the next Provinciall
Court to give Evidence in behalf of his Lspp against George
Godfrey.
Ordered also that summons issue from this board to James
Smallwood of Charles County requireing his appeareance
forthwith to testifie the truth of his knowledge to what shall
be proposed unto him, wch accordingly issued as foll

Maryland ss:
You are hereby willed and Required as also strictly charged
and Commanded that immediately upon sight hereof (all
excuses sett apart) you bee and personally appeare before his
