covery of the Intended Rebellion, and have Inclosed sent your
Lspp some Depositions tending to that effect, the Prisoners
committed into custody of Major Boareman are William Boy-
den and Nicholas Bede, but it is much Suspected that Lieve-
tenant George Godfrey is the Ringleader of this sedition, I
cannot bring Boyden to owne it but upon his Examination I
conceive the truth will be knowne, he doth say he will rather
suffer then accuse another, it was thought Ltt Morris was
concerned therein but conceive he hath been much abused in
that very particular haveing duely examined him and all
others that did any way apeach him, and due find him very
diligent to search out the first Inventor of this Designe, I have
sent your Lspp at the foote of these the names of the persons
that were intended to meete the Troop at the head of Porto-
bacco Creeke. According to the best Information I have to
Offer your Lspp upon further discovery shall give notice as
oportunity doth present, with the representation of my due
obedience Subscribe.

Propry of Maryland . Humbly Present

May it please
Your Lspp. In obedience to your Lspps Commands were
Dispatch'd two severall Letters this Day by the hands of
Edward Gale in relation to the Actors of the late Rebellion,
and therein sent the Depositions Inclosed tending to that
Effect, since wch we have made further discovery and we find
Lievetenant Godfrey chiefly concerned as by the Depositions
sent. Nicholas Bede we find a poore man and not in a
capacity to performe the Journey and his wife not well have
dismissed him upon security Supposeing these two to be the
Actors of this tragedy, if any further discovery shall advise,
and this is Signified in greate haste by
