by yu taken before you proceed to speake with the Indians
according to your discretion which to you shall seeme best for
the better discovery of the premisses and his Lspps and Coun-

Peace issue a new for Calvert County to Captn Samuel
Bourne, Roger Brooke Capt Richard Ladd & John Griggs,
Thomas Sterling Thomas Brooke, Richard Marsham, George
Lingan, John Craycroft ffrancis Collier, ffrancis Hutchins, an'd
Samuel Taylor gentl
Coll Henry Jowles as sheriff being left out, and Captn Ladd
placed in statu Quo prius
The Commissions are as foll viz

Charles Absolute Lord and Propry of the Province of Mary-
land & Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &c To Capt Samuel
Bourne, Roger Brooke, Richard Ladd, John Griggs, Thomas
Sterling, Thomas Brooke, Richard Marsham, George Lingan,
John Craycroft, ffrancis Collier, ffrancis Hutchins, and Samuel
Taylor of Calvert County gentl greeteing in our Lord God
Everlasting. Know yee that wee considering with our Self
that this our Province depends wholly upon trade, and that
we have not as yett money come amongst the people here
Inhabiting to carry on trade, soe that the Planter and mer-
chant are both forced to make many Debts which causeth
many suites at Law, as also that speedy Justice in the recov-
ery of Debts is therefore the life of all trade, and also that
speedy Justice may be done betweene party and party, We have
Assigned you the said Samuel Bourne, Roger Brooke, Richard
Ladd, and John Griggs, Thomas Sterling, Thomas Brooke,
Richard Marsham, George Lingan, John Craycroft, ffrancis
Collier, ffrancis Hutchins and Samuel Taylor or any four or
more of you (whereof you the said Samuel Bourne, Roger
Brooke, Richard Ladd, and John Griggs are alwaies to be
one) Justices within our said County of Calvert to heare and
Determine all causes or Actions of Debt howsoever and in
what manner soever ariseing, all actions of trespass upon
