Lib. R. harme: We are informed by the King of Mattawoman that
he expects greate Companys of these Indians downe amongst
the Plantations within this Seaven dayes which he seemes to
be in very greate fears off The Pascattoway Indians have been
at James Smallwoods since the other Indians went away and
seeme to be much troubled for the loss of their Indians and
doe say that they have served them two crooked tricks
already and saith also that if your Lspp would assist them they
would serve them two as crooked tricks; there are some
Indians that lived upon my Land and have very good Corne
ffeilds that now are gone downe among the English Planta-
tions for feare of being cutt of, The Mattawoman Prisoners
that came downe along with the strange Indians inform our
Indians at Zachaiah that there are two ffrench amongst them
and that they marry with them and are all one with them, I
suppose by the next Post your Lspp will Receive a full Accot
of Captn Brandts proceedings: I have nothing more to add
but the representation of my best endeavours Subscribe

Then taken into consideration the late horrid murder com-
mitted at the lower End of the towne whereof the Indian
prisoners lately taken were suspected but upon their tryall
and a Letter recd: from Coll Spencer were acquitted and Dis-
charged.

Memdu. that in the Examination of the Indian prisoners
the last Councill Day One of them did say that there were
among the Nanjatico Indians upon the Secrys Land two
Nanjemy Indians wch also was affirmed by John Stavely that
he saw the Secrys two Indians among them at the warr
Dance at Piney Neck.
Whereupon issued these foll ordrs viz

p. 200 With all Convenient Speed after sight hereof you are to
take with you James Cullins or John Stavely and with them
repaire to Coll Willm Chandler from whom you are to Demand
a convenient guard for your security, with which guard and
James Cullins or John Stavely you are forthwith to repaire to
Nanjemy and there to Demand the two Indians that hunted
lately for Coll William Calvert and were at the warr Dance at
Piney Neck with the Nanjatico Indians, and the said two
Indians to apprehend and bring downe to St. Maries before
