Then taken into consideration the frequent complaints
made by the Inhabitants of this Province against the Ordinary
keepers at St Maries for want of Due accommodation of
themselves and their horses at Provinciall Courts and other
times of publick convention according to the tenor of their
bonds and the Act of Assembly in that case made and pro-
vided, which Act was read & ordered that Henry Exon and
John Baker Daniel Clocker and ffrancis Catterson Ordinary
keepers in and about the City of St Maries enter into bond
anew with one sufficient security each (to be taken by and
remaine in the hands of the Clerk of the Councill) in the
summe of Twenty Thousand pounds of tobacco conditionally
to comply with the tenor of the Act, provideing for Ordinary
Keepeing, and upon such bond with security as aforesaid
Lib. R.
that lycenses be granted them for keeping ordinary as afore-
said, otherwise that they be not Admitted to keepe ordinary
for the future.
Henry Exon pursuant to the aforesaid ordr makes tender of
Capt John Stanesby for his security wch is accepted off and
bond accordingly taken

By Stephen Gary a peticon preferred to this board viz

To the Rt honble the Lord Propry and to his honble Coun-
cill &c
The humble Petition of Stephen Gary of Dorchester County
Sheweth
That your Petitioner according to his Duty would have sur-
renderd his Accots to your Lspp long since but being pre-
vented by sickness and badd weather had neither time to
bring them nor make them up.
That the leavyes were soe inconsiderable these two yeares
last past that your Petr could make in both yeares but Eighty
two pounds of tobacco and less then two hundred single
tytheable or two in a ffamily
That your Petr susteyned greate loss last yeare by received
Tobacco which lay on his hands Eighteene hhs at one place
and fourteen at other places soe that unless your Pef should
continue his office for the yeare ensueing it would be almost
his utter undoeing
Your Petitioner therefore Supplicates your Lspps Clemency
to allow him further time to make up his said Accompts and
to continue him in the Office of Sheriff for the County afore-
said. And your Petitioner shall pray &c
