Councill

Saturday the 23th of Apiill 1681 being the Day appointed

for Councill His Lspp the Rt honble the Lord Propry ordered the
same to be adjourned till Monday the 25th instant

At a Councill held at St Maries the 26th Day of Aprill Anno
Dmi. 1681:

Then tendred to this board an address made to his Lspp by
severall the Inhabitants of Kent County against Humphry
Elliot being as foll viz

May it please your Lspp:
Wee the Inhabitants of Langfords Bay in Kent County
haveing undergone the vast mischiefes troubles losses and
Damages that we have susteined by one Ellis Humphryes
late of Langfords Bay hundred in your Lspps County of Kent
by his killing of our stocks of hoggs and disturbing of our
stocks of Cattle and continuall menaceing threatning of the
poore Inhabitants of this hundred to burn their houses and
waste their goods soe that many of us were weary of our
habitations and others forced by his wicked and Malitious

Actions both to their bodyes and Estates to sell and Quitt
their possessions, and whereas the sd Ellis Humphrys hath
lately been convicted off ffellony and was committed into the
custody of the Sheriff of this County from whom he made his
Escape, on which his said Estate was by the sheriff secured
into the hands of the Hundred untill condemnation, upon wch
Sarah his wife hath peticoned your Lspp for the Estate, and as
wee are credibly informed that the said Sarah together with
some other of her Assistants doth intend after that your Lspp:
hath granted her the said Estate to peticon yor Lspp to grant
unto the said Ellis his pardon, soe that then he may come &
live amongst us again which may proove very much destruc-
tive unto us:
Therefore we your Lspps most humble Servants doe most
