Lib. R. Major Long at request armes and Ammunition for to Supply
the necessities of the Inhabitants of the Lower parts of this
County with Instructions how to dispose of it according to
ordr Wee have been all quiett blessed be God ever since
that accident at Thomas Richardsons and have not as yett
heard what people they were I have ordered Thomas Rich-
ardson to keepe the Gunn arrows and sword till yr Lspps
pleasure be knowne what shall be done with them; This with
the constant tender of my humble Service to your Lspp is at
prsent all from

June the 14th 1680:
Honrd Sr
This Day Coll Burges was with me, and Acquaints me that
he recd: a Letter last night Accompanied with these two
Inclosed from Coll George Wells, the Contents of wch Letter
he saieth is in pursuance of his Instructions from yr Lspp that
if occasion required he should acquaint Coll Burges, and that
he should take care to supply him, all wch Coll Burges hath
observed and expeditiously pformed, the quantity of men and
armes are twelve required for the secureing the ffrontire
plantations of Patapscoe, to morrow morning the men
marches, the occasion of this comes by some Information Coll
Wells hath recd: of the Sinniquo comeing downe Coll Burges
tells me he hath noe ordr to lett any of those Armes comitted
to his care and charge for the secureing of this County be
sent out for the Supply of Another, but Considering of his
Last ordrs he hopes it may not be thought amiss, knowing also
they are Imployed for that purpose your Lspp intended them
It is Considered that with yr Lspps Consent a publick Post be
appointed in this exigent of affaires, and that we may not
have upon such emergent occasions a messenger to seeke,
ffor good and expeditious Intelligence oftentimes prevents
many Inconveniences and also produceth good effect. My
Lord the good people yor Lspps good ffriends have daily
expectations of enjoying yor Lspps good Company wth your
Noble Lady, and in pticular W B and
Your Lspps humble Servtt to Command

the Chancelor onely then prsent that a Letter be writt to Coll
George Wells and another to Capt John Waterton, requireing
