At a Councell held at Manahowickes Neck Wednesday the
Eighth Day of January in the ffourth yeare of the Dominion
of the Rtt Honble Charles &ca over this Province Annoq
Domini 1678.

Baker Brooke Esqr Surveyor Genll

Ordered that Proclamation issue forth for the calling in of
all such Gunns & other Armes, provisions &ca as have been
presStd for the Countreys Service and yett remaine in the
hands of private persons, to the End the same may be secured
in the hands of the Comissrs of each respective County for
the proper vse and service of the Countrey, According to the
request of the last Assembly. Which Proclamation accord-
ingly issued forth & is as foll. viz.

Maryland Whereas at a Generall Assembly begunn & held at
Our City of St Maries on the Twentieth Day of Octo-
ber last past & there continued untill the 15th Day of Novem-
ber following amongst other things it was taken into consid-

eration by both houses of Assembly the great greviance Our
Province hath & doth daily susteine by severall private per-
sons keepeing in their hands and converting to their owne
pticular private vse severall Gunns & other Armes, provi-
sions, horses, bridles Saddles and other things that hath fro:
time to time been pressd for the Service of the Countrey, and
Satisfied and paid for out of the publick Leavy to the great
loss and Damage of Our said Province in generall. And
fforasmuch as both our sd Houses of Assembly did humbly
Desire us or Our Ltt Genll and Councell to issue forth procla-
mation for the calling in and secureing of all such Gunns and
other Armes, provisions horses bridles, Saddles & other
things as aforesaid that have been soe prest as aforesaid for
the proper vse & Service of the Province. It is therefore
Our Will and pleasure and we doe hereby strictly charge and
