An Act Enabling one Burgess out of each
County to lay the Publick Levy of the Province
for this p^rsent year.

Whereas this present Generall Assembly have raised a cer-
tain sum of Tobacco for the defraying the Publick charges of
this Province to this present time, but by reason that before
the same can be Leavyed by an Equall upon the Inhabitants
thereof, more charges may happen before the accustomed
time for payment thereof, which is at the Tenth of October, at
which time again to Convene the whole Assembly would be
very chargeable and burthensome to the Province by reason
of the remote habitation of the Delegates thereof. Be it there-
fore Enacted by the King and Queens most Excellent Majes-
ties by and with the advice & consent of this present generall
Assembly and the Authority of the same, that only one Bur-
gess or Delegate for every County of this Province and one
for the Citty of S^t Maries (that is to say) for the Citty of S^t
Maries M^r Robert Mason, for S^t Mary's County M^r John Wat-
son for Kent County M^r William Harris for An Arundell
County Cap^t John Hamond, for Calvert County M^r Thomas
Tasker for Charles County M^r William Dent, for Baltemore
County M^r Francis Watkins for Talbott County M^r Robert
Smith for Somersett County Cap^t William Whittington for
Dorchest^r County Doct^r John Brook, for Cecill County M^r
Edward Jones be sent down to the Citty of S^t Mary's the first
day of October this present year 1692 to lay the said Leavy

allow all further Charges that may accrew upon the Publick
Account of this Province from the time of this Assembly to the
twentyeth day of October aforesaid the same not Exceeding
the sum of one hundred thousand pounds of Tobacco
