The President tells the Speaker and Lower house that he
hopes the Country will give them thanks for the Service they
had done them; and then the said President on Behalf of
himself and the rest of the Deputy Governors Prorogueth the
Assembly till the second Tuesday in April next; And the
Assembly was Accordingly Prorogued till the second Tuesday
in April Anno Domini 1689.

An Act for a perpetuall comemoration and
thanksgiueing on every tenth day of June for the birth
of the Prince

Forasmuch as it hath pleased Almighty God of his infinite
mercie & goodnes to vs & our posterity to bless his sacred
Maj^tie our dread Soveraigne and his Royall consort the Queen
in the birth of a most hoopefull & glorious Prince that the
remembrance thereof may be extensiue as farr as in vs lies
equall to the greate benifitt & happinesse we enjoy thereby
Be it therefore enacted by the right Hono^rble the L^d Propry by &
with the Advice & consent of the vpper & lower houses of this
p'sent genii, assembly & the Authority of the same th^t every
tenth day of June for the time to come (being the birth day of
the said glorious Prince) be sett a part & kept holy & annually
celebrated by rendring hearty publique praises and thanks-
giueings vnto almighty God for the great & inestimable bless-
ing aforesaid soe th^t the generacons to come as is their duty
may effectually w^th true piety & humble devocon praise the
Lord for the p^rsent blessing & alsoe pray th^t his Maj^ties royall
and renowned offspring may as now be the Subject of our
hearty & humble praises to Almighty God for ever, And be it
further enacted th^t all & every person & persons inhabiting
w^thin this Province shall vpon the said day annually resort w^th
diligence & devocon to some vsuall Church chappell or place
where such publique thankesgiueing & praises to Gods most
diuine Maj^tie shall be rendred & there orderly abide dureing
the said publick thanksgiueing prayers & other service of
God there to be vsed & minister'd and th^t all psons may be
put in mind of their duty thereon & be the better prepared to
discharge the same w^th becoming devocon.
Be it also further enacted th^t every Minister & teacher shall
giue notice to the hearers publickly in the Church chappell or
place of Worship at Morning Service the Lords day next
before such tenth day of June for the due observacon of the
said day and shall then publickly and distinctly reade this
p^rsent Act to the people
