[G. Cook to Council.]
Baltimore December 16th 1776.
Gent.
In my absence Capt Nicholson borrow'd sixty five of the
Ship's small arms so that there is but few left. I shall
endeavour to procure arms for the men, if they are not to be
got will not wait as I imagine we can be supply'd at the Head
of Elk or Philadelphia. I flatter myself the greatest part of
our Company will go with Chearfulness. I shall loose no time
but set off as quick as possible.
I have the Honor to be, Gent.
Your most obedt Servt
Geo. Cook.

[Baltimore Committee to Council.]
In Committee
Baltimore 16th Decr 1776.
Gentlemen.
Inclosed we send you a list of the Companies which com-
pose Colo Cockey 's Batalion, but as there has been some dif-
ference in the choice of Capt. Cockey's Subalterns and the
matter not yet determined, we must wait until they have
another choice. We are of opinion that sending Commissions
agreable to this list would be serving the common cause.
We are
Gentlemen,
Your Humb. Servts
