[Steward to Council.]
December the 14th 1776.
Gentelmen.
Capt. Hamond went from hear last Tusday in one of the
province boats to Anaplus what he went after I dont no, he
has not been hear since I got his schooner redey to sail, bent
his sails for him and everything else, I am in want of sum
thin canvess to make a Jibb and Squar sail for another
schooner, I have been tould you have now a large quanttey
come in. Pleas to send me down 2 Bolts of the thinest you
have, number 3. 4. 5 or 6. W'd want fore bolts the horse
cant bring more than two conveniently.

Copy of Letter No 60 was sent to Capt. George Cook, and
Copy of No 61 to the Delegates in Congress.
Adjourned till next Day 10 O' Clock.

[Council to Cook.]
Captn G. Cooke
Sir. The assistance of the men belonging to the Defence
may be of service to the common cause at Philadelphia. We
request you therefore to march immediately without loss of
time with all the men that can be spared from the necessary
care of the Ship whilst in harbour. When in Philadelphia you
are to obey the direction of the Honble Congress.
Mr Chase having mentioned nothing of great guns in his
letter to Captn Nicholson, we think none ought to be removed
'till further orders. Let the men take their small arms &c.
and let no time be lost.

[Council to Maryland Deputies.]
The Delegates in Congress
Gentn. In consequence of a verbal message from the Presi-
dent of Congress delivered to us by Colo Ewing, we instantly
gave the necessary orders to the Commanding officers of
Frederick Baltimore & Harford and Caecil Counties to call
together the Militia of those Counties to be in readiness to
march to the assistance of Philadelphia expecting that we
