Warrant granted to Thomas Sparrow to recruit Matrosses
for the Service of this State.
Adjourned till next Day 10 O'Clock.

[Council to Hancock.]
Sir.
Your favour of the 15th by express we only re'ceived this
forenoon, and immediately sent off a fresh express to Virginia.
Dispatches have been sent to the Militia Officers throughout
this State to hold their different corps in readiness to march
upon the shortest notice. It gives us concern to find from
information just now received from Dorset and Caroline
Counties on the Eastern Shore, that there are likely to be dis-
turbances in those Counties (for want of salt it is said) of a
serious nature, the progress the disaffected have made we
have not time to transmit by this opportunity without detain-
ing your messenger; but we shall send duplicates of the
information we received to our Delegates by to morrows Post,
who probably will arrive in Philadelphia almost as soon as this
bearer

[Council to Capt. Martin.]

Sir. In answer to yours of the 17th we must observe that if
Capt Stone should be so obstinate as to replevy the Brigg
after he has petitioned the Convention and desired the same
to be postponed to next session, we shall take care to give
security to answer all damages on behalf of the State, and
send her away, so that you need not regard what is said about
a writ of replevin. An anchor and cable you may have if to be
got. the 4W 3W and swivel balls be pleased to order at Capt
Ridgely's furnace, if there be none to spare in the Stores.
Should any writ of replevin be served on the Brigg, let us
know immediately.

Sir We are informed by Colo James Murray that you will
take charge of a sum of money to be delivered out to Mr
Thomas Sparrow as occasion may require. We have inclosed
you an order on the Eastern Shore Treasurer for the sum of
fifty pounds for that purpose, and request you to deliver out
the money to him in proportion to the number of men he may
