No. 15.

[Council to Steward.]

Sir. There are no Durants in the stores, so that we cannot
furnish. you with materials for Colours as yet. We send you
two Bolts of Oznabrigs. The guns and cohorns on board of
the Defence's Prize, you will please bring with you to Annap-
olis, and we should be very glad you and Jesse Hollingsworth
could contrive us down the Cannon lately brought from
Hughs's works. Be pleased to hire a vessel for that purpose,
unless your own will bring them, there are upwards of 20
eighteen pounders, which will be wanted here. Mr Westeneys
has been to the magazine & got 6 1/4 yards Tammy and two
Bolts Oznabrigs.

[Secretary Peters to Council]

War Office 19th Nov. 1776.
Gentlemen.
An Exchange of Prisoners having been long agreed upon,
but prevented from taking Effect by the General's being con-
stantly employed in counteracting the designs of the Enemy, it is
now desired that no longer delay may be used. General Wash-
ington writes very pressingly for all prisoners of War to be sent
to Fort Lee in New Jersey addressed to the care of Genl
Green commanding Officer there. You will therefore be
pleased immediately to collect all the Brittish Prisoners in the
State of Maryland and have them properly escorted to Fort
Lee that an Equal number of our suffering Countrymen may
be relieved from Imprisonment and Distress.

Be so good as to send lists of the Prisoners to the War
office with an Acct of all Expenses incurred by your State on
the Score of Prisoners. Please to have the officers conveyed
seperate from the Privates, and let both take a Route by which
their coming thro' Philadelphia may be avoided.
