Maxwell's company's marching, as they have been furnished
some days, with guns, blanketts and a few (not above four or
five) bayonets (which is all that could be got here) Mr Harts-
horn called at Baltimore agreeable to your order and got
cartouch boxes and Havre Sacks, and I am told the Canteens
have since arrived at the Head of Elk, but no tents are yet
come, and the people here ask such an exorbitant price for
their coarse linen, that I think, if there is any probability of
getting them in Philadelphia, it would be better for the com-
pany to go that far without them, however I shall act in that
respect agreeable to your instructions, which I hope you will
forward as soon as possible.

Monday, Octr 14th 1776.

Council met. Present as on yesterday.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to Stephen
Steuard one thousand Pounds currency, to be accounted for.
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to George Garston eight
Pounds, for Pilotage.
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Elizabeth Dune twenty
one shillings for Amt Acet
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Catharine Nixon two
Pounds, twelve shillings & six Pence Amt of Acct
The Council of Safety delivered to Captain Brooke, nine
musquets.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to Thos and
John Dorsey seventeen Pounds, two shillings and eight Pence
for Amt Acct
Mr Nicholson attended.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to James
Hutchings two hundred and twenty eight Pounds, fifteen
shillings and four Pence for Amt Acct
The Council of Safety appointed Captain Keltie to rigg and
get the Schooner Ninety two fit for Sea, she being bought of
Cravath and Dugan for eight hundred Pounds Currency.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to John Keltic
fifty Pounds, to be accounted for.
Adjourned 'till next Day 10 oClock.
