[Clarke and Kiiner to Council.]
We the subscribers, inhabitants of Baltimore Town beg
leave to acquaint the Honble Council, that we have for a
number of years been purchasers of produce in said town,
and being informed that a considerable sum, is shortly to be
laid out, for the use of the Province do now make an offer of
our best services, and shou'd the Honble Council be pleas'd to
employ us in purchasing such produce as may be bought at
Baltimore, we will do it for a commission of one pound ten
shillings on every hundred pounds, and will give the best of
security for our faithful performance. James Clarke

Council met. Present as on yesterday.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to John Gordon
four hundred Pounds, on Acct of Contract for Cartouch Boxes.
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Catharine Nixon
fifteen shillings for Amt Acce
Copy of Letter No 209 was sent to Dr Michl Wallace.
Council of Safety advertize for five thousand pr of shoes.
Copy of Letter No 210 was sent to Colos Veazy & Thomps[on] ,
Majrs Rumsey & Clayton.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to John Gordon
for use of Gerard Hopkins twelve Pounds, six shillings & six
Pence for Amt Acct
Commission of Reprisal issued to James Handy of the
Harlequin Privateer, mounting six swivels, he having given
Bond according to Resolve.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to Robt Ridge
three Pounds, sixteen shillings, and nine Pence for Amt Acct
Wm Barker appointed Inspector of the Warehouse at
Nanjemoy in Charles County.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to James
Manyard three Pounds, ten shillings for Amt Acct
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Aquila Randall twenty
four Pounds, for 4 month's Adjutancy.
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Captn Thos Watkins
two hundred Pounds for to purchase Arms and blankets.
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Selby & Howard four
hundred Pounds on Acct of Contract.
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Colo Peter Waters
three hundred & ninety one pounds, two shillings and five
Pence for Amt Acct
Mr Benjamin King appointed Captain of the Schooner
