Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Thos Saml Poole for
use of John Young one hundred & six Pounds, five shillings
for Knapsacks &c:
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Clerk twenty Pounds
for Expresses, and other Purposes.
Commission granted to James Tibbitt of the Sloop Inde-
pendence, as a Letter of Marque, he giving Bond according
to resolve of Congress.
Ordered That Wn Shore Treasurer pay to David Steuart
for use of Isaac Vanbebber by order of Abraham Vanbebber
two hundred dollars.
Adjourned till next Day 10 oClock.

Camp Morrises Heights Sept 30th 1776.
Gentlemen: Being inform'd you are raising troops for the
Service of the United States of Amarica, beg leave to address
myself to your Honours on that particular head.
I flatter myself since I have been in your service, I have dis-
charged that duty and trust your honours was pleased to
repose in me as a soldier, still being desirous of serving my
country in so glorious a cause as I have already imbarked in,
hope your Honours will consider me, in the election of officers
in your State. From my ability I cant flatter myself with any
particular post, in your service, but will leave that to your
superior ability's, hoping at the same time, you will not give
me lower rank than I bear at present in the Army.

[Stone to Council.]

Gent. Your letter of the 27th to the Delegates of Maryland
was delivered to me yesterday. Capt Watkins did not leave
this City so soon as I expected he would do. I fear nothing
will do with him but dismission. I have procured clothes for
his company and have directed Lt. Grace, who at present
commands, to have every thing got ready for them as soon as
possible. Every thing here is very dear, but I thought it
better to pay high, than keep the soldiers doing nothing or
send them naked to camp. I have heard nothing of the powder
you mention. My colleagues I presume attended to that
matter. Messrs Chase and Paca left this on Sunday and I
shall sett out on Thursday if my state of Body will permit, tho'
