[Council to Buchanan.]

To General Buchanan
Sir. It has been represented to this Board that its abso-
lutely necessary that Competant Guards be kept at the Maga-
zine and Laboratary at Baltimore Town, and that Captain
Smiths Company cannot perform that duty and do duty at the
Fortifications at the same time. We therefore request the
favor of you to order such of the Militia of your County upon
that Service as you may think requisite.

[Council to Hollingsworth.]

To Colonel Henry Hollingsworth
Sir. Inclosed you have Captain Luce's Bill of Laden for
one Hundred half Barrels Powder belonging to our Province ;
you will be pleased to have it Waggoned to the Head of Elk
and sent to Baltimore Town to the care of the Committee of
that place.
September 10th 1776.

[Council to Baltimore Committee.]

To the Committee of Baltimore County
Gentlemen. We have desired Colonel Hollingsworth to
waggon from Christine Bridge to the Head of Elk one Hun-
dred half Barrels of Powder belonging to our Province and to
send the same to your care, when it arrives be pleased to store
it in the new Magazine. We think it would be prudent to
remove a Considerable part of the Province powder that is
now stored in Baltimore, to the same place, as it may be
dangerous to keep large quantities of that Article within reach
of the Enemy.
10th September 1776

Wednesday September 11th 1776.

Council met. Present the same members as on yesterday.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to Captn John
Brooke jr three hundred and ninety nine Pounds, fourteen
shillings and four Pence for and on Acct of his Company.
Captn John Brooks's Company commissioned.
Ordered That Western shore Treasurer pay to James
Tootle sixty one Pounds, thirteen shillings & three Pence for
Amt of Acct
Ordered That said Treasurer pay to Wm Urquhart four
Pounds, thirteen shillings for subsist: of Part of Flying Camp.
