was unanimously chose. I having been appointed to a first
Lieutenancy in the said company and a commission confer'd
by the Honourable Council of Safety at the time being, now
beg leave to resign the same (being inclosed) having a daily
expectation of a marine commission from the Honourable
Continential Congress. In the interim am and shall ever
remain a strenuous advocate for the welfare of America and
beg leave to subscribe myself

Saturday 10th August 1776.

Council met. Present the same members as on yesterday.
Commissions issued to Benjamin Galloway — appointed Cap-
tain, and Aaron Welsh first Lieutenant of a Company of
Militia in Col. John Weems's Battalion.
Ordered that the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
John Yost fifty pounds common money being the Ballance
due him on his Contract with the Council of Safety in Nov-
ember last.
Ordered that the said Treasurer pay to said John Yost four
hundred Pounds to enable him to manufacture good substan-
tial Musquets for the Public.
That the said Treasurer pay to Capt. Uriah Forrest Eighty
Pounds on Account of his Company.
That the said Treasurer pay to Joseph Eastman four
Pounds ten Shillings for a Musquet.
That the said Treasurer pay to Christopher Rabreck thirty
four Pounds nineteen Shillings and two Pence for 93 1/2 Dozen
Priming Wires and Brushes.
That the said Treasurer pay to William Jacob fourteen
Pounds seventeen Shillings and three Pence for Tent making.
Adjourned till Monday Morning 10 O'Clock.

[Lyon to Council.]

Prince George's County August 10th 1776.
Gentlemen: To comply with your request for purchasing
arms and blankets, the Committee of Observation for the
County aforesaid find it necessary to have a sum of money
not exceeding fifty pounds for that purpose. If you think
proper they would be glad to receive that sum by the first
safe hand and am for and oh behalf of the Committee.
