Leonard Town 7th Augt 1776.
Gentlemen. I am sorry to inform you of the Disappoint-
ment I and my Company have met with, and am Realy sorry
to say that I Beleve I shall not have one third of my Men able
to do duty, if we should Continue here for ten or fifteen days.
People here are unprovided with Provition, and I belive is
not to be had at any Rates, the greater part of my men have
been obliged to live forty eight hours without the least bit of
Bread or Meat, by which means some of them were obliged
to act Disagreeable and Undissatisfactionery to me altho
could not by any means prevent them. The Water & Climate
here is very Unhealthy to those people Espessealy them who
came from my Quarters, altho Gentlemen if it is not in your
power or can not be obtained by us to Return to a place more
helthy and agreeable to my Men and where they may per-
haps be of more service to there Country. I am willing to
Comply with your orders and die in the Cause. I am at
present out of cash and would be glad you'd furnish me as
soon as possible as nothing here is to be had without

Prince Georges County Aug 7th 1776.
Gentlemen. On the late alarm of Lord Dunmore's fleet
coming up the River Potowmack, it was thought necessary
that the neighbouring militia should be called out for the
defence of the inhabitants, and as I was at that time absent
in Frederick, an application was made to Major T Sim Lee
who, as you will observe by the letter inclosed, ordered Capt
Marbury's, Capt Wheelers, Capt Baynes, Capt. Wades and
Capt Leran's Companys to march which they did and con-
tinued on the banks of Potowmack untill discharged.
You have inclosed Capt Baynes acco for the time his Com-
pany was in this Service, and he now waits on you for the
payment of his account.
By the appointment of Capt. John Addison as Lieut. Colo to
the Flying Camp, Capt. Bayne succeeds to the command of
