[Council to Maryland Deputies.]
The Deputies of Maryland in Congress.
Gentlemen. This will be delivered you by Captn Thomas,
who commands one of the Independent Companies that was
ordered up to Phila by the last Convention; as Colo Small-
wood, will not be at Phila we apprehend Capt Thomas may be
at a loss who to apply to for orders, we therefore request you
will give him any directions or assistance in your Power.

Sir.
If there should not be any Provision laid in for the Flying
Camp militia at the head of the Bay as they arrive there on
their march to the Northward, or Baggage Waggons, pro-
vided we request you'll give them the necessary assistance.

We have no particular orders to give you further than to
let you know that we have given general orders to your
Colonel, & as soon as your Company is compleat and well
armed, you are to march immediately to the Northward.

Deputies for Maryland in Congress
Gentn We have been informed Lieutt Steuart of Capt
Thomas's Company has lately accepted a Commission from
Congress in the marine service — if the fact is so, it must
superceed the commission he holds under us, & upon a pre-
sumption of the truth of it, we have filled up the vacancy occa-
sioned by the removal & promoted the other officers, &
inclose the Commissns to you to be delivered the several
officers, if Mr Steuart is removed, or return to us if he is not.
