Wednesday 26th June 1776
Met according to adjournment. Present the same members
as on yesterday.
Ordered that Colo Smallwood be requested to detach a non-
commissioned officer and two privates, to guard the arms
directed to be sent to Captn Rezin Beall.
Ordered That Colo John Hall of Ann Arundel County be
requested to detach part of a Company of Militia in his Bat-
talion to guard and watch the coast from Thomas's point to
Horn-point.
Copy of Letter No 45 was sent to Captn Rezin Beall, & No
46 to Jesse Hollingsworth of Balto Town.
The Brig Fortune chartered by Mr William Lux, and the
Brig Rogers chartered by Mr George Woolsey having
remained some time in the harbour laden with flour and
bread belonging to this province, and no probability of their
geting to their Port of Delivery, by reason of men of war and
tenders, infesting the Bay, and their cargoes being in danger
of becoming altogether spoiled and of no value,
Tis therefore ordered by the Council of Safety that the said
vessels be unladen, and their cargoes delivered to Mr Jesse
Hollingsworth, to whom written directions are given, how to
dispose of the same and that the said vessels be discharged
from the public service.
Commission issued to Richd Gresham appd third Lieutenant
of Captn Thomas Smyth's Company of Militia of Light Infantry
in Kent County, belonging to the 13th Battalion.
Ordered That Captain James Nicholson be empowered to
purchase Salt Beef and Pork for the use of the Ship's crew
belonging to the Defence.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Jesse Hollingsworth four hundred and nine pounds, thirteen
shillings and nine pence, for expences incurred in raising and
refitting the vessels sunk at Whetstone point, for the defence
of Baltimore Town.
