letter will be delivered you, signed by Mr V. B. & myself, by
which you'll find we have entered into a copartnership. The
motives of it are therein sufficiently explained also what we
have done in consequence. I shall not therefore dwell longer
upon it in this place. I intended by Capt Martin to have fur-
nished my acc( curt' with you, but the unexpected and agree-
able intelligence of Capt Conways arrival at St Pierre will not
permit me to stay & collect an ace' of the Brigs Disbursements.
He got in the 10th I leave this to night & hope to see him in
three days, every thing is ready & I shall dispatch him imme-
diately with a valuable Cargo :

N. B. Should Messrs Jenefer & Hooe apply to you for any
money on my acct I should be obliged by yr furnishing them
with as far as 500£.


Monday 17 June 1776.

Met according to Adjournment. Present the same Members
as on Saturday.
Ordered That the Commissary of Stores deliver to Lieu-
tenant John Waters, for Capt. John Gunby 's Company, twenty
five Musquets and fifteen Rifles with Powder Horns and
Pouches.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Capt John Day Scott ninety four Pounds four Shillings and
five Pence on Account of his Company.
Commissions issued to Vachel Gaither appointed Captain,
Absalom Anderson 1 Lt Stephen Basford 2d Lieutenant, and
Thomas Fowler Basford Ensign of a Company of Militia
belonging to the Severn Battalion in Ann Arundel County.
Copy of Letter No 25 was sent to Capt Isaac Vanbebber.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Eastern Shore pay to
Capt James Hindman One hundred and forty nine Pounds
seventeen shillings currency for subsisting his Company to
30th of May.
Ordered That the Commissary of Stores deliver to William
Hayward Esqr for Capt. James Hindman's Company fifteen
Rifles with Powder Horns and Pouches, Eleven Musquets, and
thread sufficient to make One hundred Suits of Cloathes.
Adjourned till next Day 10 O'Clock.
