Original

[Stewart and Woolsey to Council.]

Baltimore June 5th 1776
Gentlemen: The Bearer, Mr Robert Purviance waites on
you with accot of disbursements on Schr Resolution, which we
are Anxious to have Settled, being considerably in Advance
at present, and the Tradesmen are become Clamourus for
remainder of their money. Indeed we heard with much
unneasiness, that the Person ship'd as Master, had been
troublesome to you for payment of a small ballance due him,
this we woud have prevented by an Advance of the Money,
had we not considered some of his Charges as Extravagant,
but of this you will be competent Judges when the accot is
submitted to your perusal. It woud at this time be exceed-
ingly Inconvenient for us to leave home as we are Engaged in
Publick business, we therefore hope you will dispense with our
Attendance, particularly as Mr Purviance can fully Explain
every matter to you, we request therefore you woud settle the
Acco' & pay him the ballance. his receipt will be a sufficient
discharge from us, We are respectfully Gentn Your obedt
