Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to

Mr William Whitaof five hundred Pounds common Money on
Account of his Contract to erect a Slitting Mill.
Ordered That the said Treasurer pay to Mr James Dorset
four hundred Pounds like money to enable him to erect a
paper Mill.
Ordered That the said Treasurer pay to Captain Peter
Adams thirteen Pounds four Shillings and five Pence, the
Amount for his Account filed.
Adjourned till next Day 10 O'Clock.

[Council to Baltimore Committee.]

To the Committee of Observation for Baltimore County
Gentn Agreeable to your favor of the 27th of last month
we have ordered that Captain Wells's Company be an Artil-
lery Company, and Captain Deans and Thomas Rutter's
Companys added to the Baltimore Town Battalion. The
Commissions for Dean's company are inclosed to Colo Wm
Buchanan.
We request you will render a particular acct of the expen-
diture of yr 1000£ sent the 8th March to defray the expences
of the militia on the alarm occasioned by the Otter Sloop of
War, and also furnish us with your Vouchers for the general
charges in the acct of Monies expended on the fortifications at
Whetstone Point.

[Frederick Committee to Council.]

Honble Gentlemen
As two surplus companys of Militia in this district, which
will appear by the enrolment laid before us and sent herewith,
we take the liberty to recommend to your consideration the
officers therein particularized, in whom, we do conclude, may
be placed special trust and confidence, and hope as such they
will meet with your approbation, and that commissions with
your earliest convenience will be made out and sent to them,
with the utmost deference in behalf of the committee of the
upper district of Fredk County,
I am Gentlemen, yr most obedient Humb. Servt
June 5th 1776 Saml Beall Junr Chairman.
