428 Journal and Correspondence


Doctr Zebdiah Potter Ensign of the same Company, being

appointed surgeon of the 14th Battalion of Militia, it is neces-
sary to fill those vacancies. I therefore hope Commissions
will issue to Thomas Wynn Loockerman as 2d Lieut & to
Alexander Waddell as Ensign, who are entitled thereto by
rotation. I shall take care to return the former Commissions
by first Oppurtunity.

Annapolis May 15th 1776.
Gentn The Company which Majr Benja Ogle command has
made choice of James Ogle as their Capt who was either 2nd
Lieut or Ensign when Majr Ogle command, from information
the company is perfectly satisfied and it is their wish that Com-
missions may issue as they have recommend, we are per-
sonally acquainted with Mr Jas Ogle and think him a proper
person to superseed his Brother:
We are Gent yrs C. Beatty. B. Johnson.

1 Lt Josh Harrison Junr 2d Lt & Thos Harrison Ensign of a
Company of Militia in Talbot Coty belonging to 38th Battalion.
Also to Nichs Martin appd Captn John Singleton 1 Lt Thos
Delihay 2 Lt & David Robinson, Ensign of a Compy of Militia
in Talbot Coty belg to 38th Battalion.
Also to James Lloyd appd Captn Thos Coward 1st Lt Levin
Spreden 2 Lt & Solo James Ensign of a Compy of Militia in
Talbot Coty belonging to 4th Battalion.
Also to Richd Keene son of Wm appd Ensign of Captn
Fountleroy's Compy of Militia in Caroline County belonging
to 28th Battalion.
Also to Saml Smith appd Captn Jno Stevenson 1 Lt & Jams
Cain Ensign of a Compy of Militia in Harford County belonging
to 23d Battalion.
Also to Saml Griffith appd Captn & John Hall Hughes Ist
Lt of a Compy of same County and same Battalion.
Also to George Patterson appd Captn of a Compy of same
