Captain Edward Veazey.
Ordered That Treasurer of Western Shore pay to Thos
B. Hands Esqr sixteen Pounds, two shillings for 23 Day's
Attendance, as a Member of the Council of Safety.
Mr Hands has Leave of Absence

To the Committee of Safety of Virginia
Gentn We have just now received a Resolution of Con-
gress and an Advertisement, Copies of which we send inclosed.
We also transmit you a Copy of a Letter sent us by the Com-
mittee appointed to devise Ways and Means for retaking Moses
Kirkland.

[Council to Russell.]
To Mr. Thomas Russell
Sir. You will please deliver 271 Quarter Barrels of Powder
belonging to this Province, that arrived at Indian River together
with seventy Pounds of musket-Balls, two brass Blunder-busses
& twelve Swords to the Officer that may be appointed to
guard the same to Chester Town in Maryland, who will deliver
this Letter; and any Expences you may have been at in landing
or guarding the same, shall be paid on application to
May nth 1776 yrs. &c.

[Council to Kent Committee.]
To the Committee of Observation for Kent County.
Gentn About 271 Qr Barrels of Gun Powder belonging to
this Province have arrived at Indian River in Sussex County,
and is now we are informed in the Custody or Possession of
Colo John Dagworthy. We request you would hire Waggons
to Convey the same from thence to Chester Town, there to
wait the further Orders of this Board. A Guard will be
appointed by the Captain of the Independent Company in
your County, to whom we have wrote on the Occasion
P. S. There are two brass Blunder-Busses, 12 Swords &
abt 70lb Muskett-Ball, which are also to be brot with the Powder
11th May 1776.
