Baltimore 13th May 1776.
Gentlemen. On my return from Annapolis on Saturday I
met Captn John Sterrit, to whom I delivered a Packet for you
brout by an Express who was going to Philada I was directed
to request that if you have any commands to Williamsburg
intended to be sent by the return of the Express, you may be
pleased to lodge them here, as he will call on me, & expects to
be here against Thursday, and does not intend to go by
Annaps

Annapolis May 13th 1776
Gentn I have the Honour of holding a Captains Comsn in
the Balt. County Militia wh (for particular private reasons) I
must beg your Honours indulgence to resgn I mean not by so
doing to withhold my personal service from my Country but
assure your Honours that I shall immediately join Captn
Sterretts company in Balt. Town wch will be much more
agreeable to me & I hope satisfactory to Your Honours.
