Baltimore 13^th May 1776.
Gentlemen. On my return from Annapolis on Saturday I
met Captⁿ John Sterrit, to whom I delivered a Packet for you
brou^t by an Express who was going to Philad^a I was directed
to request that if you have any commands to Williamsburg
intended to be sent by the return of the Express, you may be
pleased to lodge them here, as he will call on me, & expects to
be here against Thursday, and does not intend to go by
Annap^s

Gentⁿ I have the Honour of holding a Captains Comsⁿ in
the Balt. County Militia w^h (for particular private reasons) I
must beg your Honours indulgence to resgⁿ I mean not by so
doing to withhold my personal service from my Country but
assure your Honours that I shall immediately join Captⁿ
Sterretts company in Balt. Town w^ch will be much more
agreeable to me & I hope satisfactory to Your Honours.
