Ordered that a Copy of the above Order be immediately
dispatched to Col. Weems by Express.
Copy of Letter N^o 32 was sent by Express to the Committee
of Observation for Baltimore County: Copy of N^o33 by Express
to Col. William Smallwood: Copy of N^o 34 by Express to the
Committee of Observation for Prince Georges County: Copy
of N^o 35 by Express to the Committee of Observation for Bal-
timore County: And Copy of N^o 36 by Express to Col. Thomas
Dorsey.
M^r Carroll was requested to go to Baltimore Town to assist
in the necessary Preparations there.
Ordered That Capt. Rezin Beall' s independent Company be
stationed one half of them at Port Tobacco in Charles County,

and the other half at Drum Point in Calvert County and that

they march to their several Stations as soon as possible
Copy of Letter N^o 37 was sent to the Committee of Obser-
vation for Calvert County.
D^r Michael Wallace was appointed first Surgeon's Mate to
the Battalion.
Commission issued to W'illiam Frazir appointed third Lieu-
tenant of Cap^t James Hindman's independent Company in the
Room of Pollard Edmondson who resigned.

[Council to Virginia Council.]

In Council of Safety Annapolis 6^th March 1776.
To all persons whom it shall or may concern, We request
you to permit the bearer hereof M^r Alexander Ross to pass
unmolested to the Council of Safety of Virginia, he having
made affidavit that his journey to Virginia is on account of
private business and with no other Design; and that he will
not directly or indirectly communicate any intelligence what-
soever on public affairs to any person unfriendly to America.

Gent :
In consequence of a letter from two of our Delegates (a
copy of which we send you inclosed) we have given M^r Alex-
ander Ross a permit to pass to your board and as his business
is to be settled in your colony we leave the propriety of grant-
ing him a further passport to your determination.
