[Ramsey to Jenifer.]
Sir.
I received your letter by the Post, and for answer inform
you, that I can purchase some tow Cloth upwards of yard wide
which I think for last, will be preferable to Oznaburgh, but
good flax, or hemp linnen of that width, known here by the
name of eight Hundred linnen; I cannot purchase under 3/ or
2/10 I am of opinion tho' that in the end it will be much
cheaper than Oznabs Oznabs I apprehend cannot with any
degree of Conveniency be made into Hunting Shirts, as from
its narrowness two breadths will not be sufficient for any Man,
and by putting in a third it will not only appear clumsey, but
will in fact be as dear, as linnen upwards of yard wide would
be at 3/ supposing the Oznabs to be had at 2/ and with
respect to the wearing of the two there would be no Compari-
son. I intend this Day to wait upon the person who has the
Woolen Cloth to sell, and if I can consistent with your direc-
tions, will bargain for it.
By the bearer Mr Ewing you will have an opportunity of
sending me any further Directions you may think proper.
I am, Sir, Most Humbl Sert
Charles Town Feby 12th 1776 Nat. Ramsey
