[Chamberlaine to Council.]

Talbot County Feby 7th 1776
Gentlemen. I am requested to enclose you the Commis-
sion granted to Mr William Goldsborough, who to gratify his
parents, has declined the acceptance thereof. We made an
appointment in convention of Perry Benson to be ensign in
the Heart of Oak Company to supply the place of their officer
who had been promoted, on a supposition that he stood next in
the line for preferment in this we were mistaken and find that
the Commission should have been made out to Henry Celston
their first Sergeant, whose appointment will give general satis-
faction to the Company and enclose you that Comn in hopes

they may be indulged in the alteration.
I am Respectfully Gentlemen
Your very Obt Humb Servt
Jas Lloyd Chamberlaine
