and one hundred pr month after, till the quantity engaged are
furnished, providing I am finish'd with locks for said muskets
at least twenty days before said day, (for which shall be allow'd
fifteen shillings for each lock) out of the price of the musket so
finished, and providing I am advanced the sum of three hun-
dred and twenty five pounds immediately (or as soon as good
security is oferd) and a further sum of one hundred pounds, at
the delivery of said hundred muskets, towards defraying the
expence of the second hundred, and for each hundred after to
have the sum of fifty pounds advanced, till the quantity wanted
are compleated as witness my hand this sixth day of Feby 1776

P. S. Tis meant that said muskets be compleat, with stock
Boinet, Ramer, and brass mounting.

Philada Feby 6th 1776.
Dear Sir. The Congress just now received the Letter from
the Council of safety of N. York, pray dispatch copy to Vir-
ginia by the post, or if gone, by express to their Convention,
a Brig is arrived to Mr Morriss with 15 tons of Powder & 1500
stand of arms, 5 Tons & 500 arms belong to our province.

Wednesday 7. February 1776.
Council met. Present the same Members as yesterday.

Ordered, That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Mr John Gassaway thirty Pounds Currency on Account of
Capt Nathaniel Ramsey's Company.
Commission issued to Jacob Duvall appointed Ensign of
Capt. John Macgill's Company of Militia in Prince George's
County. Also to Edward Norwood appointed Capt. Samuel
Godman 1, Lieutenant, James Walker 2d Lieutenant & Horatio
Johnson Ensign of a Company of Militia in Ann Arundel
County.
Also to Elisha Riggs appointed Captain, John Marriott,
1 Lieutenant, Joseph Walker Junr 2d Lieutenant and Horatio
[Johnson] Ensign [of a comp]any of Militia in said County.
Col. Smallwood [produced] and delivered to the Council a
Copy of the Enrolment of Capt Thomas Ewing's Company of
Regular Forces which was examined with the original and
ordered to be filed.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
