Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to

Mr Henry Barnes One hundred and twenty Pounds Currency
for Subsist and Advance Money for Capt. John Stone's
Recruits.
Ordered That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Mr Benjamin Ford sixty Pounds Currency to be lodged with
Mr Thomas Johnson at Frederick Town or in his Absence, to
be left with Messrs Charles Beatty and Baker Johnson, to be
by them laid out in the purchase of Gunlocks.
Ordered, That the Treasurer of the Western Shore pay to
Mr Benjamin Ford One hundred Pounds Currency to be
lodged with Messrs Charles Beatty & Baker Johnson to enable
them to advance for Rifles for the use of Capt George Stacker's
Company of Light Infantry.
Council adjourns till Monday next to meet at Baltimore
Town.

[Council to Commee of Prince George's Co.]

To the Committee of Observation for Prince George's County.
23 January 1776.
Gentn
The late Convention having resolved that the Records
should be removed from the City of Annapolis and directed
the Council of Safety to provide a fit and proper place for them,
and we having determined they should be carried to Upper
Marlborough, if a safe and convenient Place can be procured
for them there, request you will examine into the State & Con-
dition uf the Court House of your County in which, if it will
answer, we had rather the Records should be lodged; but if it
will not, of any of the vacant Houses in the Town and provide
one which you may apprehend best adapted to the purpose
upon such reasonable Rent as you may agree for.

To the Deputies of Maryland in Congress.
23rd Janry 1776
Gentn
Mr Maynard who will deliver this to you is going with
Letters to New York from the Governor to Mr Foxcroft. The
package covers three other letters which are intended to go
by the Packett, two of them to William Eden Esq. which the
Governor on his Honour assures us contain nothing unfriendly
to America, the other to Lord Dartmouth, which we have seen,
inclosing Copies of the Instructions of the Convention to their
Deputies in Congress and also of the Declaration, with his
