sive the Act of 1649 his Lordps Exemption Act, the Tunnage
Law & the Act of 1704 the support of Goverment, in order
thereto his Lordp directs me to acquaint you that he does with
pleasure & desires you'l pay the sum of one hundred Pounds
as his Quota of Subscription & with regard to me as Provin-
cial Secy I pray the favour of you for my Subscription in Aid
to pay the sum of Twenty five pounds as my Gift; that of his
Lordp you'l acct with him & of mine to me.
I have recd no Bills from you since the 17th of Octr Mr Du-
lany last Christs owed me from the Comissrs office two years
800£ of wch he has paid not

have remained, It is unfair, he paid me when joint in that
office with Mr Tasker, it hurts me. I beg yr friendship in this
matter by way of hint to him, if he is out of the office I pray
you enjoin strict compliance from his successors agreeable to

The Theodolite being unfinished prevented my sending it
with the other Instruments for the Lines sent you
April the 8th the above Instrumt waites for safe conveyance
Mr Wilmot's Letr inclosed to me June the 23d the 2d clause
points out near where Lines will of Agreemt on
running the Lines, wh my Lord approves of as far as
done. Mr Penns message to me the 4th of March
shews you that the Lord President the Earl of Granville is
clear of opinion, that there is no necessity for Proprietors to
present their Governrs for the Approbation of the King on his
Accession, but only on their making a New Appointment, and
Mr Penns message also agrees to the prolongation of a year
additional for running the Lines wh his Lordp agrees to; these
are inclosed to you, And Mr Thos Penn has again been with
me, that he agrees to, That a Due East & West Line is to a
parallel of Latitude to each line as near as possible, that he &

his Brother mean no other ways fur running the North Bound-
ary Line of Maryland bet: the Two Provinces & shall write

their Orders the same to their Comissrs for rung that Line 15
Miles South from the City of Philadelphia. My Lord recom-
ends unanimity and does not doubt on yr part and of all mat-
ters being so and thanks
The State of the War, the Belligerent Powers
Large Effusion of humane Blood, extensive devastation with
Famine & extreme Poverty, Especially in the greatest part of
Germany, has brought on consideration of Peace But yet,
attended with vigorous prosecution of the War by numerous
Armies, particular the French who are three men to one agt
