Anne Arundell in same condition of setlement having taken
cource to that purpose before I came from Coll Jowles I have
likewise left Majr Beale with Orders to Range till the pro-
vinciall Court all the woods between Patuxon and Potomack
and to haye an Eye to the Virginians and their motions
because wee heare they have the like disturbances also in
Stafford County over against us which orders I hope will be
approved of by you soe that I doubt not but in a very short
time all will be quiet and nothing left to doe but to take
imaginary care to keep them soe for which my utmost
endeavours shall never be warning I thanke your honr for
the good newes imparted to me and I doe heartily rejoyce at
the safety of his Maty whose happy restoration without blood-
shed I most earnestly wish and shall dayly pray for soe wishing
your honr all health and happiness. I rest

These are to advise you that upon the receipt of a most
maliciously seditious paper sent from Virginia on purpose to
put the whole Country in an uproar by alarming it with
groundles feares and Jealousies of treachery from Coll Darnall
Majr Boarman and my self in order to the hyring of the Seneca
Indians to kill the protestants I appoynted most of the Ius-
tices and cheif men of this county with many others out of St
Maries County to meet the Emperor of our Indians with all
his great men at my house yesterday being Wednesday in
order to dispossess the whole country (by the Testimony of
the abovesaid persons) of the beliefe of soe dangerous and
incredible report But the Emperour with his greate men thro
some mistake of the appoynted day not appearing I had noe
opportunity till this morning to cleare that poynt (which I
hope by one of the Enclosed will appeare to be done effect-
ually) yet by the presence of the said Iustices and Gents I had
the happy advantage of procureing the other Enclosed cer-
tificate which as it has given abundance of satisfacon here soe
the Coppies of the same yesterday sent to Calvert and Anne
Arundell County I hope has found the like effects there and
in regard the effect can never cease without the cause being
taken away I have sent this day two of the said Certificates
under the said persons owne hands to that part of Virga where
that monstrous brood of a Report was first hatcht which said
Report has not onely made the people Enfort themselves in
Stafford County but all over that Collony From the bordering
