Sir wee have earnestly looked for and expected some
Advice from your Honr touching the preservation of all the
people of this province from falling into the hands of the
heathen and wee are afraid that worse or at least more potent
Enemies Have therefore sent this bearer with a Letter to you
onely being informed that Coll Darnall and Coll Pye have had
notice already of the Eminent danger wee are in every minute
wee cannot conceive the Clamour and noise of this unexpected
newes can escape your eares Its reported the Indians are
designed to kill all the protestants in this province not without
the assistance of some called Christians in greate power here
Which wee cannot but hope is a false report But this wee
have heard this day That Majr Ninian Beale is either engaged
with the Piscattoway Indians or every minute in expectation
to put in operacon their wicked and malicious designe But this
is our Resolution at present to stand upon our owne defence
against all that shall oppose or disturb us in our peaceable
possessions and if wee have not speedy advice and assistance
from you as our superiors Wee must and will apply our selves
to those that will have greater regard to our present troubles
and without the great mercy of God Almighty the inevitable
danger wee are in Requesting your speedy answer wee
remaine in a posture of defence for the generall safety of all
his Lordsps people throughout the whole province as farr as
lyes in the power and abilitie of Sr

Yours received at Coll Jowles in Patuxen Cannot much
admire that you should be so falsely alarmed when all here
was under the same apprehendsions untill I came up amongst
them. I doe assure you Gent there is noe occasions of such
feares if there had I would have beene with you myself long
