warrant or Certificate running of Lines through other mens
bounds thereby making Divisions of other mens Lands &
offering some thereof to sale of which reports we are not only
credibly informed but of its verity most thoroughly pswaded
as well as of the meaness of their Capacitys to warrant such
transactions may it therefore please your Excellency we your
most humble Servants as abovesaid do not only acquiesce
with the Inquest but likewise pray if with your honour it may
Consist that those Commissions for Surveying & Ranging
may be Conferred on such well affected Persons as may not
only Study your Excellencys safety & advantage but likewise
render general Satisfaction to this County which is the humble

To their Majestys Worshipful Iustices of the
peace for the County of Somerset in Court sitting
The humble petition of the Grand Inquest
humbly sheweth
That your humble Petitioners yesterday havg heard sundry
Commissions read in Court granted by his Excellency the
Govr of this province to one Mr Edward Greene & Mr Ioshua

Barkstead relating to Ranging & Surveying &ca in this
County which to your humble Petitioners seems of very high
Consequence & most Greatly to be admired that Strangers
newly here arrived should obtain such high priveledges &
their Majestys Loyal Subjects in our County of so Long
Continuance so little regarded which indeed has begot in
your petitioners such thoughts as the aforesaid Commissions
are surrepetitiously Obtained & his Excellency not duly
informed which Commissions we humbly beg may be & Lie
dormant till his Excellency may have full informations
And as in duty Bound shall ever pray
