Yours of the 17th of March last & another from some of the
Gentlemen of your Council of the 15th February preceeding
to the Govr of this Province his Excellency hath been pleased
to communicate unto us the which being laid before us & the
Contents thereof duly considered we do in the first place
render your Excellency our hearty thanks for your kind
inclination & advice & then joyfully congratulate your happy
Success in the late defeat given the Enemy. We are also
sensible of the weighty Burden that lyes upon you in the
maintaining and carrying on the War against the French &
Cannida Indians, & we are very ready & willing to contribute
what in us lyes towards your support & the defraying of your
charge but cannot at present so Effectually pform the same as
we would until the meeting of our Assembly which is to be
on the 20th day of May next when we shall fully represent &
lay before them the necessity of your condition & of our
Assistance in your relief which we shall recommend with all
the prevailing & pressing arguments we can Effectually to
demonstrate & make appear the zeal we have for their Maj-
estys Interest & your Service—
We have only to add that this day we discoursed the French-
man & the King of those strange Indians lately come into our
province & seated themselves at the head of our Bay as for-
merly we understand hath been intimated to your Excellency
