Letter for the Peruseall of the Board for that they did rationally
suspect some treasonable treacherous matter therein Con-
tained being Certainly Informed of his having publickly
abused & bespattered the Governmt He prays to be excused
in the matter & denys the Delivery of the Letter for that he
Conceives he is in no wise bound to accuse himself or Ridicule
Mr Randolph
The Sheriff of St Marys County called in &hath Committed
into his Custody the Body of Sir Thomas Lawrence with his
mittimus in Writing as follows (vizt)

By his Excellency the Govr & Councill &ca
Maryland ss
Whereas it hath sufficiently appeared and been made mani-
fest to this Board that Sir Thomas Lawrence Baronet is Guilty
of several high crimes & misdemeanors by him done &
committed & wherewith he stands charged in the misfeazance
of his Office the breach of his Oath & the trust reposed in him
the open violation of the known Laws & Statutes of England
the betraying of their Majestyts Interest and Soveraign
Authority here legally Established associating & confeder-
ating with Countenancing aiding & cherishing & abetting
their open & professed as well as private and Secret Enemies
contrary to the Peace of our Sovereign Lord & Lady the
King & Queen their Crowne & Dignity and tending to the
disturbance of their Majestys good Subjects the Inhabitants
of this Province and to divert them from their due and natural
Love & Affections, true faith & allegiance to their said
Majestys & also to deceive & defraud them of their lust
rights & Properties.
These are therefore in their Majestys Names to will &
require as also to charge & command you Robt Mason Gent
high Seriff of St Marys County or your Deputy forthwith to
apprehend & take into your Custody the Body of sd Sr Thomas

Lawrence if he shall be found in your Bailywick and him safe
keep so as to have & Convey him with all expedition to the
Sheriff of Charles County to whom (together with this pre-
cept) you are to deliver him (and who is hereby straightly
Charged & Commanded to receive and take him into his
Care & Charge & him in safe secure & Close Custody keep
without Bail or Mainprize until he shall be thence delivered,
or otherwise disposed of by Order of this Board whereof let
there be no fail at Perill & for so doing this shall be a Suffi-
cient warrant dated at the Councill Board the 8th day of April
Anno Domini 1693 in the Fifth Year of the Reign of our Sov-
ereign Lord and Lady King William & Queen Mary &ca
