Justices

Ordered also that the like Comissions of peace and tryall of
Causes in St Maries County issue to the former Justices or
Comissioners savely onely That Mr Robert Carvile be added
next to Mr William Hatton President of the Court.

Ordered That the two Negroe men lately condemned have
their pardon in due forme as others .have had.

At a Council held at the City of St Maries
the nineteenth day of October 1688.

Present

Complaint being made to this Board by the Emperor of the
Nanticoakes That one Cornelius Johnson has taken away and
detained a Canue from those Indians.
Ordered That Command goe from this board That the said
Johnson without delay deliver the Canue.
The said Emperor also Complained that severall English
people living neer him comit divers outrages and abuses to
and against him and his people and doe them much detriment
in severall respects.
Ordered That a Letter be writt to the Comissioners of Dor-
chester County on behalfe of the said Indians which follows—

By the Council October the 20th 1688.
Gentlemen
Wee are informed by the Emperor of the Nanticoake Indians
that severall of our English in your County has comitted some
abuses and given severall affronts to the said Emperor and
the Indians under him in perticuler one Cornelius Johnson
has taken away a Canue from one of those Indians and refuses
